On the Job Front

Things seem to be looking up in my job search. I have heard back from a couple of clubs that I would be interested in working at and I am actually being flown up for an interview at a club in South Carolina. Hubby is very excited because the club is close to where he grew up, in the "Low Country", not far from Hilton Head. I'm actually staying in Savannah while I am interviewing and touring the club. I'm very excited, even though I'm sure my older brother will be dissapointed if I'm offered the job and take it. I am also in the running for a position at a club in northern Florida, not far from Orlando, which is where he would much rather hubby and I move to. Both areas are nice, and we can afford a nice home in either place, unlike in South Florida.

We'll see what happens. So far 2006 is looking pretty good!

Christmas Weekend

Hubby and I had a great weekend. We went up to Orlando to stay with my brother, his girlfriend and her 4 year old little girl. It was so nice to be with family and to enjoy Christmas with a little one again. This little girl is absolutely adorable and a ham. We went to the Children's Mass on Christmas Eve which was packed and standing room only when we arrived 40 minutes early!!! So all of us took turns holding the little girl up so she could see baby Jesus, which was just a statue, but she felt she needed to watch him the entire mass (it didn't help that every time she started to lose interest my brother would tell her the baby moved).
Christmas morning was exciting. The little girl got SO MUCH! I think she now owns everything Princess and Dora the Explorer. My brother bought a huge rib roast and I helped him cook it and we had cabbage & kielbasa, sweet potato casserole, green bean casserole, yeast rolls, corn, roasted potatoes and apple pie. A huge feast for just the 5 of us, but it was good.
Hopefully next year hubby and I will have a house and get the family to stay with us for the holidays.

Food Poisoning VS. Rampant Stomach Virus

Yeah, so last night I woke up at about 12:30am with excrutiating stomach pain. My stomack felt like it was on fire. No matter what position I laid in, I was experiencing horrible sharp pains and the burning. When I got out of bed and went to the bathroom I vomitted violently. I don't ever remember feeling so much pain in my life and I have a pretty high tolerance for pain. My back also hurt, like I had pulled the muscles in my upper back. The wierd thing was that I didn't experience any nausea, just horrible pain.

I passed out about 4am and when I woke up this morning, most of the pain was gone (I just felt like someone had punched me in the stomach). Very strange. Do you think it might be food poisoning?

Johnny Damon you Fucking Traitor!!!

And thats all I have to say about that...

Update

Things have been busy here. I am done with work, for now. I have been "invited" to come back as task force in January, I probably will for some extra money until we move. I am hoping that we are outta here by the end of January.

This weekend was fun. Hubby and I went to a party of a friend of mine who happens to be a very gay latin man. This guy can throw a party! There were about 100 people, he had rented tables and chairs, TONS of booze, catered food from our hotel AND a drag show. Hubby never ceases to amaze me. I would have thought that he would have been uncomfortable during the drag show, where a drag queen that had had a fantastic boob job stripped topless. Was he? Nope. Actually, he wanted to stay for the second show, so we didn't leave until 2:30am. I had WAY too much to drink and ended up passing out in the car. God, its been years since I had done that. I do faintly remember hubby stopping at like, 3 donut shops (2 D & Ds and 1 Krispy Kreme) in search for a fresh donut. So I don't think we got home until after 4am.

Sunday night was our hotels Holiday Party which was okay. To get over my hangover from the night before I drank a bottle of champagne. I wish I had taken my camera and got some pictures of everyone dressed up. I was very excited because I had bought a cocktail dress that was a size 8, I don't think I have ever worn a freakin size 8.

Last night I met up with some friends that I had not seen in 4 months because I have been so busy with work and we hung out until late. They all used to work at the hotel with me and all had been fired for very lame reasons (and I am not just saying it because they are my friends), but we all decided that we were all happier not working there.

Tonight I am meeting up with my former bosses and some friends from another hotel I worked at for food and drinks. I hadn't seen alot of them in months either, so I will have a great time. I feel bad because I will be home late again tonight and I haven't really seen hubby since this weekend.

Friday we leave for Orlando and I have been talking with my brother everyday about it. He seems really excited about us being there for Christmas. Apparently we will be having Rib Roast for dinner and he bought tons of kielbasa, I will be responsible for all the fixins.

Christmas in Florida

No matter how hard I try, I just cannot seem to get into the holiday spirit. I think the main reason is the weather down here. How the hell are you supposed to envision chestnuts roasting on an open fire when it is 8o degrees and I stare out onto the beach all day? You may think I'm crazy (especially you Tracy), but I envy my friends and folks in MA who just got a whole lotta snow. I am pretty sure I am suffering from home sickness too. Its been close to 5 years since I have seen any large amounts of snow.

Work has been crazy too. I am still awaiting my last day, which is now December 20th. I agreed to stay a few extra days to assist in training the new Food & Beverage Director (yes, they have finally canned the horrible one we had), but I have already made it clear that I do not plan to open the restaurant on those days and I will just work with the F&B guy. Hubby and I have still not decided on where we are going to move to. I have a couple of job leads in the Carolinas and Virginia (private country club positions), but to be honest, I haven't really been actively looking. I want to finish my stint in hell first and then concentrate on finding a job.

We are looking forward to going to Orlando for Christmas to spend it with my brother, his girlfriend and her four year old little girl. I think it will be fun with the little girl, watching her open presents and going to church on Christmas eve. I've met my brother's girlfriend and her daughter a couple of times and I really enjoy both of them. His girlfriend is cool as shit, as if she was a long lost Pronko.
