Yup...

Another gorgeous Saturday in the Low Country and I am at work. AGAIN. I'll get out early this afternoon, but it still sucks. At least my group contact is super nice and everything is going well.

I can't believe it is almost October. I was so excited this week because a couple of mornings it was in the 50s. Of course, by midday it was in the 80s, but it was still nice. Unfortunately, leaves don't change here, so we don't get that full fall effect.

Hubby's parents are coming to visit the first week in October. They will spend 3 nights at my hotel (that is their anniversary present) and then stay 3 - 4 days at our house. We still don't have guest room furniture, so I have no idea where they will sleep. Hopefully, we will get out and buy some within the next couple of weeks.

Lately I have felt really distracted and I have no idea why. I've been forgetting things all over the place. Last Tuesday, I was MOD and did not get off until midnight. I drove all the way home (about a half hour) and THEN realized I left my purse at work. So I drove ALL the way back. Then I turned around and did it the next day! I left my debit card at Target last week too. I also stopped at the grocery store the other night and, for the life of me, could not remember why I stopped. WTF? I'm too young to be suffering from senility. I've been layin' off the energy drinks because of the caffeine. So what the hell could it be?

Blah...

That is exactly how I feel. I have been feeling pretty crappy for the past couple of days. I don't think I have a fever, but I can't seem to get warm though and I just feel like curling up in my bed and sleeping for days. I'm working all this weekend and not only does it suck that I have to be here, I have to be here EARLY (6am). So I am sitting here, with my space heater on full blast and someone's coat that I stole out of their office over my lap. I dread getting up and going to check on my group because it is absolutely freezing in the exhibit hall and meeting rooms.

The house is coming along. I really like the sub contractors and our neighborhood's project manager. We've gotten to know some of them and they are kind of funny. Typical country guys. One of them had to come by and fix the door to our laundry closet because it wouldn't close. Apparently, someone miss measured the width of the closet and out standard washer/dryer wouldn't fit. So this guy came in and re- hung the doors to give us an additional 1/2 inch and now the doors will close "by a gnat's ass". Yes, that was a direct quote from the guy. When I asked him why he was working so late (it was 6:30pm when he came by the house and most of the guys leave the sites by 5pm on the dot), he told me, "Yeah, most of the other guys think I'm a worthless piece of shit because I sleep late. I'd rather sleep in and work later, it helps with the hangover." When he left, he left behind some of his tools. The next morning, as I was leaving for work, the project manager hollered over to me from the house next door that he was working on and asked if the guy fixed my doors. I told him that he did but he left his tools in my house. I gave them to him and he told me he was going to hide them on him to mess with him. They are a bunch of "good 'ole boys" and like to have fun with each other. I have a feeling I will get to know them really well, they will be on site for at least another year finishing the next phase of houses.

I have started to run outside because I no longer have access to a treadmill. I knew it was harder to run outside, but I didn't know if was SO much harder. I was up to jogging/running 10 miles on the treadmill (90 minutes) so I figured I could easily do 5 miles outside. NOPE. The most I have been able to do is 3.5 miles and that is tough. I also feel like I am running so slow, but I do that distance in about 35 - 40 minutes, which is about the same speed (maybe a little slower) that I did on the treadmill. So I don't know what gives. Different muscles in my legs are sore now too. I am signing up for a 5K with some people from work October 7th in Savannah. If that goes well, I will sign up for a couple more 5K this fall that are coming up in the area.

Well, gotta go, the front desk is hollering for me...

Home Sweet Home

Hubby and I are HOMEOWNERS AT LAST!!! We are so excited. We closed last week and moved in over Labor Day weekend. We were very fortunate to have my older borther, his girlfriend, her 5 year old and my little sister up to help. It would have taken just me and hubby DAYS to move, but we were able to get just about everything out of the apartment and into the new house in about 8 hours.

I can't get over how much room we have! We still have a lot of preliminary work to do, putting up blinds (for now - I plan on getting some nice plantation style blinds in the coming months), toilet paper holders, towel rings, we need to buy stuff for our new lawn... I still have a buttload of unpacking to do too. I will eventually paint as well. My family and I have already broken in the front porch and sat out there a couple of nights drinking beer (the neighbors will absolutely adore us).

Now that we have all this room, we hope to have house guests soon too! So y'all come down! Just watch out for the alligators (see post below)...

Gotta Love the Neighbors

So apparently, the area we live in has some over zealous reptiles. Below is a picture from our local newspaper of a gator that smelled something tasty being cooked inside and thought he would come over for dinner:

Here are some pictures that have been circulating on the internet. A friend sent me an article that mentioned that this guy actually lives not too far away from us either:

Yeah folks, there's a fucking DEER in his mouth. I'm so glad I have indoor kitties. I don't think I will allow hubby to play in the yard either...
